Gadsden County Public Schools set its sights high for the 2014-15 academic year. Faced with challenges and changes as the state transitions to new, rigorous standards and assessments, Gadsden remained steadfast to its creed of ââ¬Å"No Excuses.â⬠As a result, the following milestones were realized: â⬠¢ By far Gadsden most noteworthy achievement during the 20145-15 academic year was a marked increase in the graduation rates at both of our high schools. Based on the federal four-year graduation calculations published by the Florida Department of Education, Gadsden saw nearly a 9% boost moving from 56.0% to 65.4%. â⬠¢ Nurturing the body is just as critical as nurturing the soul, which is why the district elected to seek designation as a Florida Healthy School in 2015. Education begins with helping members in community understand the importance of nutrition, fitness, and spiritual wellness, for each of the aforementioned impacts oneââ¬â¢s overall ability to learn. Through implementation of programs, infrastructures, and health education courses, Gadsden was recognized as a Bronze level Florida Healthy School District by the Florida Department of Educationââ¬â¢s Safe and Healthy Schools Initiative. â⬠¢ In August of 2015, Gadsden Countyââ¬â¢s Havana Magnet School opened its doors to more than 600 elementary and middle school students as the districtââ¬â¢s newly renovated K-8 school. Havana Magnet Schoolââ¬â¢s guiding mission is to provide a safe and conductive learning environment for all students.
